When you do this, try and find a sander that has changeable heads for working around curves and into corners.

Changing from stain to paint will also give you a new feel as well as look. You may want to give wooden handles a different finish from the panels or even change them to brass for a more discerning appearance.
When you have taken the wood back to its bare state you should use the opportunity to try out different looks before committing to the whole project. So don’t go buying large amounts of stain or wood paint, see if you can get sample pots first and test it out on the wood’s surface. Some stains will bring out the grain in your pine wardrobes a lot more than others.
You should really have a good idea of what you want before you start changing everything. This will of course give you a little direction. If the rest of the room is to have a certain pattern then maybe you can find stencils to match or even create your own.
